A Guide to Choosing Flies That Catch TroutBy Darren Banasch
"Which fly to use" is a good question frequently asked by fly-fishers of all levels. The number of patterns available is overwhelming. It is impossible for the avid fly-fishier to know all the patterns and which to use in various waters, let alone the casual or beginning fly-fisher. Despite the daunting variety of available fly patterns, it is possible to choose a selection of appropriate flies that are proven producers in the three main water types in which trout are found -- streams, rivers and lakes. This book is a guide to some of the best patterns that tempt trout. So, whether you buy flies, or tie your own, this book will answer the question of which fly you should use.
Darrren Banasch is a veteran fly-fisher with over 30 years of fishing experience. At the age of eight, prompted y an article in a magazine and using his fingers for a vise, he tied his first fly. He has been hooked on the sport of fly fishing ever since. His love of wild animals and the outdoors led him to obtain a Bachelor of Science degree in Zoology from the University of Alberta. He now enjoys studying and learning about trout (their environment, foods, etc.) and the flies that they can be tricked into taking. He has fly-fished for trout extensively in many streams, rivers and lakes in western Canada, as well as some of the western United States.
